The Group Manager is used to create account Groups and manage which accounts belong to them. Groups have a number of different uses and functions. For example, using the Group Properties screen you can assign an account template to a Group, allowing you to control a variety of account settings for group members. You can also control whether or not group members have access to MDaemon Instant Messenger and instant messaging. Further, the Content Filter supports groups, allowing you to create rule conditions based on whether or not a message sender or recipient is a member of a specific Group. Finally, for Shared Folders you can assign Access Control List rights to specific Groups, meaning all members of that Group will share those access rights.

Group Management

Each entry on the Groups page contains the group's Name, Description, Priority value, and Template applied to the group (if any). All of these elements are defined on the Group Properties page. You can sort the list by any column by clicking a column heading.

New

To create a new Group, click New on the toolbar above the list. This will open the Group Properties page for configuring the group.

Edit

To edit a Group, double-click the group or select it and click Edit, to open its Group Properties page.

Edit Membership

Select a group and click Edit Membership to add or remove members of this group.

Delete

To delete a group, select the group and click Delete. Click Yes to confirm your decision to delete the group.

Copy

If you wish to create a group with settings that match another group, select a group from the list, click Copy, and then specify a name for the new group. You can then edit that group to customize any of its settings.
